Why do superheroes need a costume shirt?
Superheroes wear costumes shirt for a variety of reasons:
Practicality: some costumes incorporate utility belts, armor, etc but what’s less intuitive is why they have to dress so colorful and distinct. This helps people identify the hero so they know who the “good guy” is (stop crimes in a ski mask and you may as well just be another crook). Even the much-maligned capes can serve a purpose whether they act as some sort of shield, a makeshift glider, or help confuse the enemy while you’re moving around. Catsuits and tights would be great for someone who has to be agile or stealthy.
Symbolism: some superheroes strive to stand for an idea or cause rather than just fight crime directly. Superman’s bright colors make him easy to spot flying around: he’s a beacon of hope. Batman dresses like a monster to scare criminals and make people think he’s not even human. Other superheroes may want to pay homage to their inspirations or counterparts or reference their mythology or code name. Green Arrow evokes Robin Hood with his green colors and quiver. Black Widow is…a woman in a black catsuit, basically.
Disguise: At a bare minimum good superhero costumes conceal the all-important secret identity.
Cultural Identity and Comfort: Sometimes superhero “costumes” aren’t actually that. In the cases of people like Thor or Wonder Woman, their costumes are just what they wear in the places they come from. Man of Steel also portrayed Superman’s “costume” in this manner, as the kind of thing people from Krypton just wear.
Reputation Management: It’s important to be identifiable to witnesses and police so as not to be wrongly accused of going too far on a criminal that you didn’t actually handle. Think of it as the crime-fighting equivalent of a calling card. This is doubly important in worlds where there are many superheroes with different brands of justice.
Compression Shirt Benefits

- It wicks sweat away from the body to prevent chafing and rashes.
- Helping relieve pain from muscle stiffness and soreness.
- Reducing the time taken for muscles to repair themselves.
- When the right amount of compression is used (will vary depending on body area, typically in the range of 10 to 25 mmHg), improving venous return and oxygenation to working muscles.

These tops are very stretchy and flattering. These provide light compression. The fabric is a bit thick but it is nicely ventilated. The cut of the shirt is very flattering and looks more expensive than most shirts. It is more flattering than most workout shirts and can pass as a non-fitness fashion shirt as well.

The material is very comfortable, light and breathable which makes is easily one of the best shirts to use for work as an undershirt. I’m glad I made this purchase and recommend the big guys out there to try these. The fit is snug but it really does make you feel great and stretches in case you have doubt or reason to believe it may not fit ! I purchased these originally about a year ago. At the time, I ordered the XXL, I wore them under an outer shirt as a true compression shirt for my workouts. They worked fine for that, and have held up tremendously well!Over the past year, I’ve lost a little over 80 pounds. Now those same shirts are still lightly snug around the arms and chest, with a little bit of ‘give’ around the stomach. I’ve started to like the way they look in the gym on their own with no over shirt! Now at 190 pounds, I decided I like the current look and feel so much that I ordered another set of three (in a different color combo) and they fit consistently with the three older ones.So, I’d suggest you buy these and use them in either manner. Either order two to three sizes too big and use them as a workout tee shirt, or buy normal size (or maybe one size up) for a strong compression shirt. They work and look great for either purpose.

As a female I prefer the fit of men’s T-shirt’s and this shirt fit as expected and has not faded after multiple washes. I did, in fact, wear this awesome shirt to take my boards and what do ya know… it worked! I passed my boards on the first go. My family says it was all the hours studying, I am convinced it was the shirt. You decide.

it worked great. I dont know what that really says about the mens sizing since we usually get a boys extra large for him. I have washed it probably 5 times now and thus far it hasnt lost colour or shape. My son is happy with it, I am happy with the quality, we would purchase it again.
I ordered a size bigger as I was reading the comments. Really didn’t need to. So it was a little big for me. But quality and comfort was great!
