Top 4 Spiderman Civil War Costume

Captain America: Civil War movie,it’s the appearance of Spider-Man that will undoubtedly be generating the most buzz among fans,Not only is this Spider-Man’s first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it also marks the debut of Tom Holland in the role. So what did we learn about everyone’s favorite web-crawler during the approximately 4 seconds of screen time he had in the trailer? Here are a few things we noted.

1.What suit does Spider-Man wear in civil war?

Spidey had a very pivotal role in the original comic book storyline for Civil War. Tony Stark recruited Peter Parker to his side of the Registration Act. Peter revealed his identity to the world and Stark made him the most technologically awesome suit he has ever had, that even included robo-arms.

2.The new Spider-Man’s costume is brighter than before

When it comes to big-screen adaptations of their favorite superheroes, one of the favorite topics of discussion among fans is how close a movie sticks to the original comic book that inspired it. And while fans will endlessly debate about whether a superhero movie plot should or should not strictly follow a particular comic book storyline, one thing that most fans don’t mind seeing changed onscreen is a superhero’s costume. For various reasons, superheroes’ costumes in comic books tend to be loud, brightly colored affairs, and that look usually doesn’t translate well to a live-action movie unless you want a superhero to look like they just stepped off the front of a sugary cereal box. Just look at Wolverine’s classic bright yellow jumpsuit from the comic book (or cartoon) and compare it to the costumes he wore in the various X-Men movies. Sure, some versions may have kept the yellow and blue scheme, but the colors are definitely more muted.

Spider-Man followed a similar costume redesign philosophy in both the Sam Raimi-directed trilogy and the two Marc Webb-directed films that followed. The Spider-Man costumes that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield donned both kept the basic color scheme and web pattern, but turned down the brightness. In contrast, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man costume almost looks like it was lifted directly from the pages of a comic book. In fact, the only time we’ve seen a live-action Spider-Man with a costume brighter than this one was on The Electric Company (see image above).

It’s actually not a terrible look, but it does stick out a little next to the other character costumes in Civil War, especially Captain America and Iron Man’s. Both of them have similarly bright red colors in the comic book versions of their costumes, and both were toned down for the movie versions. Is this just one of the unfortunate side effects of having a character crossover from another studio’s franchise?

3.The eyes on Spider-Man’s costume move?

So while the bright colors of Spider-Man’s new costume can be explained by the fact that he is on loan from another studio with a different design philosophy, that doesn’t explain another slightly disturbing aspect of his costume: The eyes. Keeping with the retro comic book costume design, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man features the classic white eyeholes, instead of the mirrored sunglasses look that was used in the two previous iterations. Cool. But how are his eyeholes narrowing like that?

Sure, there’s probably a cool technological explanation for his cartoonish eyes, like a miniature device in his face mask that reads his facial expressions and adjusts his eyeholes accordingly. After all, Peter Parker is a scientist, and if Watchmen’s Rorschach can have an animated mask, why can’t Spider-Man? On the other hand, it’s another incongruous aspect of Spider-Man’s costume that looks out of place next to the other superheroes. Note that Tony Stark’s Iron Man mask doesn’t widen its eyes when he’s surprised, and it doesn’t appear that Black Panther’s cat ears perk up when he gets shot at. Well, at least Spider-Man’s mask doesn’t have weird lips like Snake Eyes in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (image courtesy of CinemaBlend).

4.Why did they change Spider-Man’s suit in civil war?

The rubber makes it look a bit goofy. So there you have it: the suit certainly didn’t look bad, but instead was reminiscent of suits that fans have already seen portrayed on the big screen.

Top 4 costumes Spider-Man should wear in Captain America: Civil War

Because we are in the age of the internet, secrets and surprises in movies and video games come far and few between. Hence why the announcement of a new Spider-Man hoodie has lit a small fire online of speculation that it may hold the key to what Marvel’s interpretation of Spider-Man will look like in the new Captain America: Civil War movie. While the sweater is admittedly pretty awesome, the odds of it being the new look for the wall crawler is looking unlikely. While I personally despise people digging for insider information this way and passing it off as news, it does spark my imagination as to the aesthetics I would like to see in the latest silver screen adaptation of Peter Parker. Spider-Man has seen many different suits and variations throughout the years, and these are the suits I want to see in the movie.

1. Iron Spider Suit

Honestly, if the Iron Spider suit does not make at least a brief appearance in the new Captain America: Civil War film, there will be many Spider-Man fans out there feeling upset. Spidey had a very pivotal role in the original comic book storyline for Civil War. Tony Stark recruited Peter Parker to his side of the Registration Act. Peter revealed his identity to the world and Stark made him the most technologically awesome suit he has ever had, that even included robo-arms. Peter would eventually foolishly switch sides and try to fight Stark while wearing the suit.. and Iron Man fans know that Tony would not have designed something without a contingency plan in place on how to defeat it. Regardless, here is to hoping that comic book fans get a glimpse of a live-action version of the Iron Spider suit.

2.Spider-man Ben Suit

Yet another amazing suit that was not donned officially by Peter Parker, this one actually belonged to Peter Parker’s clone: Ben Reilly, better known as Scarlet Spider. This suit bares quite a few similarities to the Superior Spider Suit but utilizes a little bit more of the iconic red web design in the mid section. Ben was a pretty awesome Spider-Man character and he also made some personal liberties with the suits weaponry adding some neat tricks like impact webbing, and stinger darts.

3. Superior Spider-Man Suit

In 2013 comic book fans were treated to a pretty awesome Spider-Man comic book story arc, where Dr. Otto Octavius had switched bodies with Peter Parker, Freaky Friday style. Octavius (Peter Parker) dies leaving Doc Oc victorious to walk about the world and take over Parker/Spider-Man’s life. The good Doc decides to make some changes to the costume and add his own touch to some of the tech of the suit which gave us this beautiful Superior Spider-Man suit!

4.Ultimate Spider-Man Suit (Miles Morales Version)

The color scheme and design of Miles Morales’ Spider-Man suit are pure awesomeness. Its use of black and red makes it stand out from the pack. It’s edgy and would fit perfectly in Captain America: Civil War as a way to separate this new Spidey from the Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man and Tobey Maguire Spider-Man franchises that Sony Pictures has already thoroughly tarnished. The downfall is that this suit belongs to Miles, not Peter. If down the road the film universe decided to add Miles to the mix, things might get confusing.

Spider man civil war suit vs homecoming?

Is Spider-Man: Homecoming set after Civil War? Spider-Man: Homecoming takes place two months after Civil War, which makes sense considering the title. Homecoming is a high school tradition that usually takes place in the fall (September or October), so it wouldn’t really make sense for the movie to take place in the summer.
